I just wanted to say that reading your book was an unusual reading experience for me – as an academic, I often read books hoping to get something out of them that I can write about, and if there is pleasure in the reading that is just an added bonus. I bought your book after reading a review in an on-line Jamaican newspaper, thinking that I might find something there that I could use in my current book project on the creation of storyworlds in Anglophone Caribbean literature, but I ended up reading it straight through without taking notes. So I will have to re-read it now, I guess. It wasn’t a comfortable read, nor one where I could simply “enjoy myself by means of the suffering of others.” It did make me want to close my eyes at times. But that made it hard to read on. And I just had to go on. Anyway, thanks for this, and I hope there will be more in the years to come.

    • Thanks for the kind comments Bo, and I am happy you found it interesting enough to read once and consider reading again. Regrettably, too much of the story is based on true events, which made it as hard to write as it has been to read. I am working on a new project which I hope to complete later this year.

I have just finished reading Disposable People. I understand you saying it was difficult to write. It was difficult to read too for the same reasons, but worthwhile. The book will stay in my mind for a long time. It is thought provoking.

I would appreciate your comments
